Perception of threat

Perceptions of threat are leading to changing behaviour for personal safety.  Levels of crime, including violent crime, have fallen in the last 10 years [1].  However, the prominence of gun crime in the media and a recent spate of high profile incidents mean that people increasingly fear confrontation of criminals and attitudes towards responsibility for other’s safety are changing.  Major terrorist attacks have increased fear of terrorist activity and further attacks.
